The Marketing and Advertising Departments of BlackBook Media Corp are looking for motivated and responsible interns for the 2009 – 2010 school years (fall and spring semester) to begin immediately.
BlackBook Media Corp is comprised of several divisions, each one featuring one of our products: The BlackBook Mobile Application, BBook.com, BlackBook Magazine, and the BlackBook Nightlife and Entertainment Guides. BlackBook is on the forefront of the mobile movement, and our BlackBook iPhone Application, now in its third version has been a huge hit. BBook.com has grown exponentially since its inception just over a year and a half ago, and it has now become THE place on the web to keep up on fashion, pop culture, entertainment and nightlife. The now iconic BlackBook magazine has been independently published in New York since 1996. The BlackBook Guides began as an insert in the very first issue of BlackBook and over the years have expanded into the full-length nightlife guidebooks that exist today. Other restaurant and nightlife guides try to be very comprehensive in their listings and include as many venues as possible. The BlackBook Guides, however, are much more selective and only choose listings that we feel would appeal to our target demographic of young, upwardly-mobile, fashion-savvy, entertainment-conscious nightlife connoisseurs.
The internship is relatively broad in scope and covers marketing strategy, advertising, tracking media trends, ad forecasting, and light clerical duties. Our interns get a very well rounded experience and are encouraged to seek out their interests, with plenty of opportunity to contribute their valuable input and ideas.
While the internship is unpaid, we offer many opportunities for our interns to have a tangible impact on BlackBook and really take something away from their experience. We have a relatively small staff, and our interns get the opportunity to showcase their potential. BlackBook always looks to hire current/former interns for freelance and full-time positions, so this internship is a great way to show what you’ve got to offer to the people who make the decisions.
A typical intern works 3-4 days a week, the schedule would be flexible to fit your school schedule. We realize that most interns have classes and/or part-time jobs so we are very flexible when it comes to your schedule.
Qualifications:
We are seeking college students and recent graduates who have held at least one internship in the past. Exceptional social and organizational skills as well as a moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel) are essential. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign are a plus but not required. A BlackBook intern must be able to help around the office and with other staff as needed. Additionally, the ability to comfortably and clearly talk on the phone is a must.
